Anyone else find it funny how none of the trailers really showed Corey or his story at all? he was shown in one with a clip or 2 and a tv spot, but the trailers and tv spots all made the movie look like it was about Laurie vs Michael in an epic showdown. None of the trailers showed Corey and his story about being an outcast and slowly being turned evil and shit and aligning with Michael.

I've never seen more misleading trailers in my life, would've been like Freddy vs Jason if all the trailers showed them fighting and then when you watch the movie its about a guy named Billy struggling with PTSD and going to counseling for 2 hours. Then right before the movie ends Freddy and Jason pop up for 3 minutes to have a quick fight.

Yeah doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why they never advertised Corey in the trailers, they themselves knew no one would watch it if they previewed what the movie was really about. Corey's not on any of the posters, none of them and he's the star of the movie, all the trailer's made him out to be a side character at best.

Yeah cause they knew no one would watch it, so they trick you into getting hyped for it for Michael and Laurie, they lure you in under false pretenses to get your money while not having to put the effort into a good movie.

Tbhj, I don't even recall seeing Corey in any of the trailers. Like you said, it portrayed to be as if it were a knock down, drag out fight to the end with Laurie and Michael. Can you blame the studio though? If there was any inkling that we'd be subjected to watching this otherwise school shooter's story for 2/3 of the film I definitely wouldn't have made the effort see to this.

He's quickly shown in one of the trailers if i remember, but its just him saying a line to Laurie that i think was even cut from the movie, but thats it. There was a tv spot where it showed him when he arrived to babysit and said "Its Halloween we're gonna have a good time tonight". But he was only ever briefly shown and was never shown to be a major character in any of the trailers.

Yeah, you're probably right. I guess it was just my subconscious disregarded anyone that had nothing to do with the first 2 movies as anyone of importance.

It is quite infuriating that the studio misled viewers and also issued a review emargo to stifle the poor reception from the masses.

We all know why they did it. To trick people into seeing the film so they could maximize their profits.

Still a cunting move though. Pure deception. They knew they had an absolute turkey on their hands and lied to everyone.

You are right. They really did try to conceal the real plot from us. The first "trailer" was mostly a montage of clips from the previous movies. I thought it was because of how many people bitched when the Halloween Kills trailer "gave away the whole movie." But the whole time it was because they didn't want us to know what the movie was really about.

Half the scenes in the trailers and TV spots aren't in the movie at all. It makes me wonder if they were ever intended to be in the movie or if they just shot fake scenes specifically for the trailer because they knew they could never show the real ones.

The people who make the trailers are in another department or sometimes it's another company hired by the studio which collaborates with them in advertising the film.

This is their genius of the type of movie that these hack filmmakers should have made.

No, no they don't, most trailers show you what the movie is about, not lie and make you think its about 1 thing then when you watch it its a whole other movie starring someone you never even saw in the trailers and everything in the trailer was just the last 5 minutes of the movie.

Trailer's can be misleading about some stuff, but this was ridiculous.

I liked the misleading trailers. Most trailers give away too much of the plot, so I appreciated the misdirection and secrecy.

There's plenty of movies that spell out key plot points in their trailer, and it's unfortunate.

I don't think the problem here was the bait and switch trailer. The problem is what audiences were baited into watching lol

They Metal Gear Solid 2'd the Halloween franchise with that one
