which Laurie continuity/cycle
So, he likelihood of Jamie Lee Curtis appears in yet another Halloween movie after this one is low. This will be the last in this cycle, but of course the series will be rebooted yet again at some point, just a matter of how/when. Anyway, I only ever see her appearing again in a different role in a cameo capacity. So, she'll likely top out at 7 films total in the series. But, two continuities of four apiece, since each will include the original.
I wonder which quadrilogy will ultimately hold up better? So far the new ones seem to be of better quality, production value, etc. Though, Halloween 2018 had a few plot holes. But it was a labor of love and it shows, and I'd say it's arguably the best of the sequels. That said, it would've been a good end note itself, and knowing two more are coming feels a bit forced. Then again, that's sort of the case with all the sequels in the series, as many series.
That said, the original quadrilogy. Halloween II is known for being forced, and has a lot of issues: relying on upping the body count instead of a slow burn suspense (also true for '18 though), and it's a bit campy and cheesy, but is a classic in its own right. H20 isn't looked on as favorably now it seems, but I remember seeing it in theaters when it came out, and it was well-liked at the time. I think it just feels a little too much like a teen movie. I know, a lot of them in the series are, but this one just feels moreso somehow. Plus, now Jamie Lee talks about disliking it. Hope she doesn't say that about the new ones down the road, does detract a little. But all in all, those two are good middle parts. The main problem in these four is the last, the abominable Resurrection. Jamie Lee's appearance is the only truly dignifying thing about this movie, and even that's cut brief, trying to do the trend of the day of a shocking opening kill. One of the worst entries in the series as a whole in my opinion.
Just really hope this one and Kills deliver.
