Having finally gotten around to watch Boyhood I definitely think it was something different but I didn't feel I was watching was some masterpiece like the critics were saying.
Just think, they should remake this movie but with a girl as the lead instead, same concept and everything but try not making it as boring. Call it "Girlhood"?
Or would this cause some controversy from the SJW? People would claim it as feminist and such??
I think a ‘Girlhood’ could end up being more interesting, provided the acting isn’t wooden, the dialogue is less stilted and a greater effort is made to make the characters fleshed-out, multi-layered individuals, all of which I felt were lacking the most in Boyhood.

shareWell, there would certainly be people calling it feminist, whether the actual product is one or not (and with modern hollywood it most likely would be).
Thing is, this was a long project, made in over a decade. The modern instant gratification movie studios would not stand to produce it the same way.
I dont think it would be as popular of a movie though. Many people imagine girl adolescence very differently than the reality.
