Especially with the most famous Ch'ti directing it! We want to hear some Chtimi dialect of Picard. Cousins of Oïl territory, the people of Òc and me especially salutes you!!! ;-)
Actually the ch'ti on this movie is not that good. It's more French with ch'ti words than real Picard. If you talked to my grandma ( from Picardie ) you would have absolutely no idea what she's on about lol. Anyway Dany did such a good job, I'm sure I'll get the DVD as soon as it's out. Ade!
First of all, ch'ti and picard are not one and the same! which may be why your Picard grandmother does not speak like the people in this movie... ;) From which part of Picardie is she, by the way? I live in Ponthieu, but my family is more from Santerre (both in the Somme). Second: I agree that it's more like French with ch'ti words, but that's the fate of most dialects nowadays: the accent and some words remain, while for obvious practical reasons (people moving around more than they used to a couple centuries or even one generation ago, television and medias etc...) the language in common use becomes more prevalent. It is however very faithful to how people "sound" in that region of France, whatever the lexical choices... except for Line Renaud, even if she's a native. I guess she must have practiced so hard to get rid of her childhood accent she couldn't get it back 70 years later... Or maybe she never had much of an accent to begin with; it is after all very much related to class and education.
