Stephen King may be on to something....but maybe not...
Stephen King has apparently suggested that this movie could turn into a classic movie over time and I can see his point.
I just saw this and was very pleasantly surprised by it. From the trailers and comments, I thought this was going to be somewhat more of a musical so I stayed away from it and then when in the right mood, watched it.
The style of this film was so interesting and seemed to be a blending of different directors - you can feel the essence of the Cohen Brothers in much of the humor.
Until this one, I have not laughed when watching a movie in a long time, and then, some of the more dramatic segments were very powerful (the Brad Pitt character realizing that fame wanes and the Jazz musician makeup scene - that was so powerful).
I also think the film is much better than the naysayers give it credit for.
The reason why it may not become a classic is I'm finding that it seems more and more younger generations aren't as interested in the history and origins of many things and that includes the history of celebrities and Hollywood.
As for those complaining about the graphic nature of the decadence of these people - well, I think it is fair to suggest that the true nature of those who live a life where debauchery is guilt free, and even promoted, are even more depraved than what we really know.
