Two of the funniest scenes in any movie all year…

Are 1) the scene where they are trying to get the shot with Margot’s character trying to hit her mark and them trying to incorporate the sound of her voice all at the same time, causing everyone to get increasingly frustrated and borderline psychotic with each take, AND, 2) the “fighting the snake” party scene.

I was laughing my ass off at both of those scenes harder than I have at any movie all year!

It seems a lot of people are down on this film, but I enjoyed it. It was too long for sure, and probably a little too vulgar for a lot of people, but as a fan of the history of film and different eras in Hollywood’s history, I thought they did a great job telling the story of the rise and fall of these characters, and despite it being really funny at times, it had some emotional weight to it as well. Loved the speech that the writer gives to Brad Pitt’s character towards the end of the movie. We all have a time in life when the party is over. That stuck with me.

So, after all the negativity around this film, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a wild ride.

Those scenes are both rather morbid, seeing as they end in death and an attack by a rattlesnake. The funniest scene was the very early scene of the transport of the elephant. The vomit scene was also funny. But that's about it--they really needed more humor in this movie, then it might not have seemed so very damned long!

YES, those two scenes were funny. I'm glad that they didn't censor those scenes for "modern audiences"

And that speech to Brad Pitt was a gut punch out of nowhere, which gave the movie a bit of gravitas.

A lot of stuff from that party scene at the beginning and the underground club that Tobey Maguire takes Manny and his friend too surprised that Damien Chazelle got that passed the censors. If it was a European film you wouldn't have been shocked at all but a Hollywood film, it did shock me when it came debauch side of things how far the film pushed it.

Was it the speech when Pitt's character finds out his producer friend (seemed like he was the only close friend Pitt had in the film) took his own life and then he goes in on his snobbish stage actress wife about why films are important. If it is then yeah it was a gut punch of a scene.

Oh, that first scene - I haven't laughed out loud so often when watching a movie segment in quite some time. That scene was hilarious. The repetition of the scene marker guy had me rolling.
