Top two horror of the year thus far alongside Evil Dead Rise. Must watch for all horror fans.
Took a while to win me over. Lots of hype to live up to and for the first 30 mins I was finding it just decent and a bit too Gen-Z and Aussie for me. Gets better as it progresses.
Not been a great year for horror thus far. 2022 was great and this year has been a big step down in comparison.
This year only Evil Dead Rise, Talk to Me, Scream VI, Cobweb and M3gan have been worth checking out.
Insidious: The Red Door and The Pope's Exoricst were solid enough.
Quite a few letdowns. The Last Voyage of the Demeter, The Boogeyman and Beau is Afraid in particular.
Hopefully The Nun II, Saw X, The Exorcist: Believer, V/H/S/85, Five Nights at Freddy's and Thanksgiving can rescue 2023.
I consider myself a horror fan and seeing all the hype this was getting got me giddy when I saw it out on digital, and boy... what a load of horse shit this was. More of a drama with a few horror elements thrown in.
No tension. No horror. Extremely bland. Not even a jumpscream that I could remember, if any at all.

Infinity Pool and Inside were good 2023 horror movies. I loved Infinity Pool and would rate it 10/10. While I didn't totally like Inside I could respect people liking it.
It's laughable what you find to be good. The Pope's Exorcist? C'mon
For me Infinity Pool was poor and more of a 4 or 5 than a 10.
I haven't seen Inside, from looking into it the movie isn't tagged as horror.
I said The Pope's Exorcist was alright. I'm hardly championing it from the rooftops. (You'll note it didn't make my 'worth checking out' list). It's a disposable exorcism flick which serves it's purpose for 100 minutes. A lot worse exist in the sub-genre.
In any case taste is subjective and finding it laughable that people like different movies from you is childish.
Calling it a "solid" movie is just stupid. Taste may be subjective, but even you should know that there are rules to what makes up a good movie.
