Shacky cam sucks, the movie is horrible.

And i'm not a troll, this movie is just truly awful, the shacky cam, the editing, the effects the horrible sound. Why not give us a nice shining militairy-monster action movie. You can sit through and enjoy. Another concept wasted. I definatly don't need to see annoying characters. Just horrible. BAD,BAD,BAD,BAD,BAD.

Shaky cams is the dumbest idea to come out of american cinema to date leave shaky cam to real amateur every day people not professional film makers.

I remmeber when shaky cam was just called shoulder cam because most camera operators have hard time working with shoulder cams but its often used in tight space filming.

agreed, shaky cam is the lowest form of shooting a movie

so many movies, so little time

I just watched this movie online, gave it 1 of 10.

Really. This was the worse filme I've ever watched. I really

$h1tty actors, $h1tty movie. Nothing saves this movie, not even those stupid aliens. The plot... what was the plot again?

Barf.

I'm sorry you've only seen a handful of films. It's gonna be a huge shock to you once you've seen several dozen or hundred.

The shaky cam is mildly annoying, the movie is fairly decent but not great.

WORDS MEAN THINGS! Also, before you come to bitch about a plot hole, rewatch the show/movie.

Only seen this movie once and from what I remember is good acting but all the scenes with the creature to chaotic to tell whats going on I gave it 5/10

I don't like the 1st person *camera* garbage in film but gave this a viewing anyway. I still don't like 1st person *camera* garbage in film...

I’d wanted to see this movie for years. Three days ago, I had the opportunity. I turned it off after 10 minutes. I like myself too much to tolerate the epileptic-camera approach to amateur film making.

Totally agree, shaky cam was a fad back then.

reply

Really? This is the only movie where I can honestly say the shaky cam worked. It made it look more realistic and raw. If it would've been shot like a regular movie, I don't think it would've been the same.

reply

Very true. It makes an absurd and over the top event look like it could actually happen, and told from these people's perspective through a camera, means that it puts the viewer in their place, with little idea what's going on as well.

I first watched this when it came out. I think it benefits watching it on the big screen at the time of release with little idea of what to expect, as it doesn't hold up quite so well on repeat viewings on a smaller screen.

I agree with you on your first statement about how realistic it looks through a regular camera's viewpoint. But I disagree with you on your second statement about it not holding up outside the big screen. Back in 08, I remember seeing it in theaters, and I must say, it was an amazing and memorable movie going experience. It was so intense on the big screen. But even on my regular 50 inch TV, it's still amazing to watch. I've watched it so many times. It's my all time favorite monster movie.
