Jennifer Grant

Who else thought Jennifer Grant was horrible in this movie? Her facial expressions did not match her emotions and she was just horrible. On the other hand, Nina Dobrev was pretty good.

I didn't think she was particularly good either. Frankly, the whole time I kept thinking about how much she looked like her mother, Dyan Cannon (it's spooky how much she looks like her Mom) rather than her acting ability. Some of that might be because of how awful the storyline was - typical Lifetime storyline of "woman in distress". I've never seen Jennifer Grant in anything else, so can't speak to whether this is a typical performance or not.

I thought she had a continuous look of part "I just woke up" part "I don't care." Almost like she'd just been meditating. I found it very odd.

BINGO!! Horrible is RIGHT! I kept saying to myself....didn't the director look at the dailies. I would have fired her! She came across bored and robotic. I couldn't stop looking at her odd mouth gestures. She was so unbelievable as the Mother!! Sophie Gendron would have been a better choice for the role!!

Haha even i saw that she was really bad and i never use to be able to tell when a actor is bad exept for Alexander Nevsky ;D

The whole film is a misfire, not one of Jackson's best PD thrillers, no suspense at all just a girl and her bad conscience. Dull and uninvolving.

I am so glad I am not the only one who thought that Jennifer Grant's performance was absolutely horrible. It's a Lifetime movie, so I wasn't expecting a whole lot to begin with, but I think they made a terrible decision casting her for the part. She just looked like she was constipated! Her acting was very one dimensional. The only saving grace was getting to see Catherine Mary Stewart. I've been a fan since I saw her in the 1984 cult classic Night of the Comet back in the mid 80's as a teenager. My Daughter's Secret helped to kill a couple of hours, but I doubt I will watch it again in the future. The movie wasn't a total loss, they just made some bad decisions in casting. If they had hired other actors to play the principle characters, it may have very well been an interesting movie, and that is saying alot for a TV movie.

I agree with you, dataice. I wasn't expecting much out of a Lifetime movie, but her performance seemed very flat; almost robotic. I also agree on seeing Catherine Mary Stewart. I loved her in Night of the Comet and The Last Starfighter. 25 years later, I'd say she looks great.
