Pixar's most overrated
not a bad movie by any means and certainly not pixar's worst (probably not even in the lower half of their filmography) but the film is no where near as good as people have always suggested. the plot makes no sense, even in a dreamlike way. how could carl's childhood icon still be alive, would he not be like 150 years old? the dogs flying planes is just too stupid. the tone is just all over the place and im not sure who it was made for. are kids supposed to sit through the wife having a miscarriage and dying? are adults supposed to sit thru the dogs flying planes controlled by bones on strings? i could buy a zany story about an old man who uses balloons to fly his house to the amazon in an arthouse film kinda way, but everything else is too kid friendly and silly. not sure why people rip on a bugs life for being too G-rated when this movie features stuff out of a Nick Jr. show for toddlers. Up peaks 10 minutes in.
