How come no one ever talks about that other moving scene?

Everyone always talks about the opening montage and how emotional and sad it is.

But what about that scene where Carl feels he has failed his wife in giving her the adventure he promised, only to open the photo album and find that he did keep his promise, just not in the way he expected? That scene itself moved me quite a bit and I can feel the heartstrings being tugged just thinking about it.

If you're happy and you know it, go sit in the corner and think about your life.

That's my favorite scene in the movie, and my second favorite scene of all Pixar's movies, behind Woody and Buzz flying at the end of Toy Story 1.

I remember sitting in the theater with my family at 15 years old trying my hardest not to cry. When we rented the movie on Dvd a few months later, I made sure I was in the bathroom for a little bit of the scene as to not bawl infront of everyone haha (Lame, I know, but still, it's an amazing moment)

That scene moves me more than the opening montage, to be honest.

Definitely agree that scene is phenomenal and even better than the opening montage... why? Because despite all the ridiculous, brilliant adventerous themes in this film, that scene brings it back to real life; showing that many people want to have so many amazing adventures travelling and doing bucketlists and everything, but really if you find the true love of your life then living out a simple suburban life with them, with or without kids, can be so much more than enough.

(Thinking of my parents as I write this - despite losing 3 siblings & both parents, this film was the first time I saw my 50 year old Dad cry!)

Oh believe me, Niagara falls is open for business everytime I watch that scene. I have also been big in proving this movie is so much more than the opening.

To be honest, I find that scene and the one where Carl gives Russell the Ellie Award more moving than the opening montage. I cried like a baby during those scenes.

Once upon a time there was a magical place where it never rained. The end.
