To any guys on this board: did you cry?

I'm just asking. I think the music during the montage and then the end could make even the most macho man cry. I'm a guy who's turning 21 very shortly and I lost it when I watched it. It was because of Ellie dying (and having a miscarriage) and how she didn't get to fufill her dream. Everything before that was happy and great. Also the fact they knew each other since childhood. I have this great friend who's a girl and we both met when we were 11 back in 2000. She's just a friend though. When I first met her I had a crush on her, lolz. I didn't tell her about it until 2 years ago. haha. She was really flattered though and I understand she wants to be friends. The montage sort of makes me think of our friendship.

Also I admit it I love balloons. I have since I was 3. I have Aspergers and balloons are my main obsession but there are some non Aspie people who have things for balloons too.

So did any "tough" guys try to hold back tears during the montage?

Pixar really knows how to tug on the heartstrings. Remember Toy Story 2 "When she loved me?" Didn't make me cry but it really is a sad song.

What gets me is the one photo of Ellie in her chair, looking out a window, with sunlight behind her.

This reminds me of an image my Dad had taken from a video recording of my Mom. I had chronicled the 2 weeks when her Mom and elder sister came in 1994 before she went through her first chemotherapy treatment for uteran cancer. I had assumed I had shot that video, but a few seconds later on the tape, I'm playing soccer in the background...so my Dad captured that smile on my Mom's face.

Though the 'now have a new adventure bit' came to my mind later that fall, when my Dad retired from work, and as a way to be kind of like Ellie, I got him a Hawaiian shirt with 'Up' characters on it.

Toy Story 2 reminds me of my Dad in many ways.
The Incredibles reminds me of my family.
Up reminds me of my parents and their relationship.

I'm a lady, but I just want to say I cried my eyes out. I peaked over at my husband, and not even a little sniffle from him!

Although he claims that he hasn't cried since he was like 5, so clearly he has a heart of stone.

I'm a guy and just watched the movie for the second time. And I lost it again.

I fully suspect they will be using this movie in the future as a replacement for the voight-kampff test to check if somebody's human or cyborg.

Very nearly (50 YO male)- definitely a lump in the throat moment or two there; it's usually the combination of music and visuals that gets to me.

Yes cried my heart out so sad my other half didnt cry either but I know from a friend who saw this in the pictures that men were crying as well....

I'm a guy and I didn't find it cry inducing whatsoever. I didn't even consider it or think that it would make other people cry either. I'm not afraid to admit I'll cry when something makes me sad, like when johnny 5 gets beaten up in short circuit 2 or ET starts to die - Those things made me cry.

O.K., I'll admit it...this one got to me. luckily I watched the DVD at home by myself, so no one saw. Does that count?

This movie is pure genius.

It was one of the saddest thing I've ever seen, but I didn't feel like crying at all. Maybe because I hadn't made an emotional connection to the characters at that point. Or maybe because it's only really sad taken as a whole, individually it's a collection of mostly happy, some trivial and some inevitable events.

32 year old guy here. Had tears flowing down my cheeks by the end of the montage at the start, and when the scrapbook came out at the end, there they were again. And a slight choke with the scene of the house right at the end of the movie.

not really, though I loved the film I never felt like crying. Did feel sad a couple of times though. Thinking about it, only Wall-E and Monsters Inc. are the only ones that would come close. I have a harder time at some Disney movies though... (yes, I know Pixar is Disney but you know what I mean)

Just curious, where did you cry in Monsters Inc? Is it when Sulley puts Boo back in bed and says goodbye? Because that gets me.
