Are people aware of the future race requirements for best picture?

Nothing to do with quality movies after next year, just needs to check the woke boxes. I kid you not, the best movie ever can't be nominated unless it has a minorities be the focus. It also needs the crew to be minority focused. Lol, well done libs, you've ruined movies.
Here are the rules:

1. At least one “lead or significant supporting actor” from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group. Or ...
At least 30 percent of a cast in secondary and minor roles from two underrepresented identity groups. Or ...
A main storyline or subject that centers on an underrepresented identity group.

2. At least two heads of major departments (such as editing, director, makeup and hairstyling, costuming, or sound, as well as many others) must be from an underrepresented identity group. Additionally, a minimum of one of these must be from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group. Or ...
At least six people on the crew (excluding production assistants, generally the entry-level position on set) are from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group. Or ...
At least 30 percent of the crew are from an underrepresented identity group.

I'd like to think this is false news and you copied this from a hoax article, but I have a peculiarly sick feeling this is legitimate. Good God.

reply

It sounds fake, doesn't it, but sadly it can be confirmed at multiple sources.

reply

Good, let them destroy each other. You will too see that these new "requirements" won't be enough to appease the woke crowd.

reply

Yup, they've already started eating their own.

reply

You forgot these other requirements:

3. There must be a main character/antagonist who is a total nut job.

4. Story's gotta suck really bad and make viewers feel angry, extremely bored, or suicidal after watching.

5. The producer (with the help of rich backers) had to suck up to a lot to the Academy, including bribery.

reply

😅🤣

reply

For example last years best picture winner Nomadland wouldn't have been nominated under the new rules.

reply

They need to announce these rules before every Academy Awards show. They know most people aren't aware of this shit. The Oscars would be a bigger joke than they are already.

reply

Exactly right!

reply

I'm liberal and I hate this.

reply

My hat's off to you for saying that. I have nothing against being progressive, but this isn't the way to go about it.

reply

I take each issue and decide for myself as to which way I go. I even agree with some things Republicans support. Not a Biden or Trump fan either. This country can do better.

reply

Again I agree. I feel the standard has been set too low and they know it, so they pit us against each other rather than acknowledge how poorly they have been as leaders, on both sides of the political spectrum.

reply

Unfortunately nothing is going to change as long as both sides control their followers.

reply

That pretty much means neither The Godfather I or II would have won had those rules been in place in the early 70’s.
