Hollywood can't help themselves. Take an IP and sell it, sell it, market it some more. How long until we get the obligatory WB Dune shows, and then Disney+ special productions?
A couple of movies were enough.

this is actually nothing new, i grew up in the 2000's and even then the decline was felt. even then everyone played video games.
People don't care about movies because since about 2003 99% of them have been utter shit.
Take a look at what you could choose from in the cinema in, say, 1982 or 1992 (just picked randomly) and then look at the complete dogshit they are showing now.
If movies weren't awful, cynical cash grabs with barely any script before being ruined by wokeness, people would still go see them.
