The Obvious Question Regarding Anastasia De Cobray:

why are so many men--and so many women--so utterly besotted with her? The Baroness is not a nice lady--she's a BITCH--, yet just about everybody regards her as the hottest thing in jumpsuits.
Great topic for a lengthy discussion: what is it about the BITCH that makes that type of woman so exciting and desirable?

reply

Simple psychology, really. The Baroness has a sadistic streak and therefore attracts those with masochistic tendencies.

reply

I think its a bit more then that, though thats a very good observation.

I think it might also have something to do with breaking a strong willed person. More about the conquest then about the gains. Also chicks with dark hair and dark eyes just look hotter :D

And as someone else said shes a crazy bitch and likely good in bed LOL

Don't we all want the things in life that aren't good for us?

reply

Crazy, bitchy women have a reputation for being great in bed.

reply

Good points all around!

reply

Of course in Dukes case it was because he was engaged to the old her as well.

reply

She feeds into various fetishes: A raven haired woman who dons glasses and a tight leather body suit who's domineering. Grrrrrr!

Lady Anastasia bears an alarming resemblance to someone very close to me: my sister, Maria Milagros Roldan Morales. She is a very sharp and alert woman who is so much more inteligent and energetic than her parents that I'm almost sure she was left as a baby at the door of Toledo 602, Rio Piedras, PR 00923 by fairies.
She is also bossy, domineering and constantly forgetful of the fact that she is neither my mother nor my wife. Also I'm still puzzled about why, back in 1982 when I was suffering the lowest point of my life, she not only refused to help me but actually kicked me when I was as down as I hope I'll ever be.

Have a thing for your sister, do you?

It seems that applies to both Anastasia and Maria.

Phone number...?

Sorry, she is taken. Nevertheless, I can introduce her to you if you are okay with:
Maria always taking the initiative
Maria always second-guessing you
Maria always having the last word.

reply

"Maria" sounds like it could be a code word for "women in general."

Maria can be intimidating with her cocky attitude.
Of course, not everybody is awed by her. She is a geriatric nurse. Once, she was practicing her validation, which means listening carefully to the patient and repeating accurately what the patient says. This is how her first time went:
Anna: I am not sleeping well.
Maria: You are not sleeping well.
Anna: It takes me forever to get sleepy.
Maria: It takes you forever to get sleepy.
Anna: When I do sleep, I often have nightmares.
Maria: When you do sleep, you often have nightmares.
Anna: And when I wake up, I don't feel refreshed.
Maria: And when you wake up, you don't feel refreshed.
Anna stared at Maria with a baffled expression, then she smiled an indulgent smile and told her:
Anna: Dear, you and I have the same problem.
Maria: You and I have the same problem. What problem is that, ma'am?
Anna: We are both deaf.

Oookayyy!!!
Let's put aside the wierd love/hate thing some people obviously have about their sisters...
Obviously Anna was massively hot in this. I got to say, I've always been a bit at a loss as to why so many people think Sienna is so hot - but this movie helped me out a lot.
That said, while she was infected with the nanites surely she must obey, right? Don't they also switch off morals/judgement etc? So why was she able to 1) refuse McCallan, and 2) touch her husband? Or was she only compelled to obey the Doc?

well Maria is a very common spanish name for a girl

point of order:

in the film, it's revealed that Ana was a nicer person until the "death" of her brother Rex, followed by being abandoned by Duke. She was an emotional wreck. After Rex became "the doctor" and "teamed up" with McCullen, he chloroformed his sister and injected her with the nanomites, tunruning her into the Baroness. McCullen used her a stepping stone for his plan: using the nanomite puppets, he had her seduce and marry Daniel DeCobray for his particle accelerator to later weaponize the warheads. After capturing Duke when he stopped the Paris warhead and took a few beatings, her memories of him broke through, overriding the nanomites.

Long story short(TOO LATE!) the manipulative seductive murdering Baroness that seemed attractive to some was just a broken woman in a nanomite shell.

I can see the ad now:

NANOMITES:
THEY CURE CANCER
THEY DESTROY CITIES
THEY UPGRADE BEAUTY TO A NEW LEVEL

reply

I agree with most of this, but just one thing nobody touched on yet: isn't her last name Lewis? I thought DeCobray was the Renegades name for the Commander. Oh, and people find Baroness hot because she's hot. usually, I find, anyway, that the body matters, not her personality (not in an actually healthy relationship, though)

reply

Sorry, I just realised that she is also called DeCobray in this movie. But she's still hot!
