Only three characters return for sequel

So, according to Rachel Nichols the only returning characters will be: Duke, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Then what was the point of Cobra rising??? If Baroness, Scarlett, Cobra and Destro are gone, so am I.

I'm in the minority that actually loved the first flick and I think they're missing a golden opportunity here. How in the hell are at least Heavy Duty, Scarlett, Breaker and Hawk not returning? And wasn't the point of the 1st movie's ending to setup that Cobra Commander was going to become the big bad for the sequel? What about that Zartan was the president now? They are screwing those of us that actually liked it for sure.

reply

Yeah I don`t get it. They might aswell reboot now because the first movie will be pointless. Build up Cobra Commander, Destro and Zartan and then just drop the characters? Does not make sense at all. And I was actually looking forward to a sequel.

This could be misleading. This is one actress on a twitter account.until paramount or a Producer or directer confirms this no one should look at this more then just a rumor.

Duke, Snake Eyes, and Storm Shadow are the only ones who passed the dance auditions, and Jon Chu only needs dancers in his version of GI JOE! The rest were fired!

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

Whould you just shut the *beep* up?

o Jon Chu is making his action move debute there for it will be a dance movie. You know way before he even got signed a directer they had a finished script? Jon Chu dose not have a decision on this but instead paramount or the producer dose. Even though this sounds bad, i think theirs more to this then there letting on.

Baroness must return, otherwise it is a worthless movie.

reply

Now I can effectively say I'm not watching this. TADA!
The first one didn't flop. It just underperformed. The studio execs still cashed in a considerable amount of money.

No point in making a sequel if 70% of the protagonists are not returning. Call it a re-imagining.

Its funny how everyone complained how bad the film was and then they take away the best actors in the first one, leave the horrible ones and replace the director with a director whos resume includes the Justin Bieber documentary.

Karma GI Joe fans.

Without Cobra Commander, who the hell are the bad guys?

Storm Shadow died, for F's sake. You're not going to bring back the main bad guy, or even one of the other main baddies (like Destro or Zartan), but you will bring back the dead evil minion? Lame-tastic.

Without Scarlett (and to a lesser extent the Baroness), there's not even any eye candy.

I don't care how it did at the box office. This film was trash. Since they already ruined the brand they might as well make more wholesale changes. Anything would be an improvement.

I'm not blaming the cast. There was some real talent there, although I can't imagine they read a script before signing on. Hasbro should be ashamed, and everyone from the producers to the director should be retrained as nurses or something. Making films just isn't their thing.

reply

I don't think it's Karma. I think it's more like they're just salting the wounds. I know this is a long shot, but I'm hoping that most of these people aren't returning not because the *characters* themselves won't appear, but because they're considering rebooting the entire thing so they can actually make a G.I. Joe movie.

reply

You bet its a long shot. I like the first one as did a lot of people, so I was hoping for a sequel with the same cast and a continued storyline.

Characters such as Cobra Commander and Destro can be played by anyone since they're wearing masks. As far as the rest of the cast, the G.I. Joe universe has literally dozens of characters, and this is an opportunity for them to expand their cast and show just how large of an organization G.I. Joe really is. Personally, I'd love to see some of the Joes from the original toyline, including Roadblock, Low-Light, Beachhead, Lady Jane, Spirit, Mutt, and Shipwreck (just to name a few). Regarding Cobra, they could have characters such as Major Bludd, Tomax and Xamot, and an expanded version of Dr. Mindbender. It would even be awesome to bring in Serpentor!
My point is that they can still do a lot in with this movie without the original cast, and as a lifelong fan of the series, I'm excited about the possibility of seeing more!

Scarlett was DELICIOUS... ill miss her if she is not returning... Red Head with huge boobs... im into it personally.

But yeah i guess they just recast the other characters, not removing them entirely.

In the end joseph gorden levitt realized that after inception he could hit bigger and christopher eccleston thought how much of a bad mistake he made. I liked this movie but eccleston's performance made me feel ashamed to be a doctor who fan.

They should have kept everybody and dropped Marlon Wayans.
