Seriously, what was the point of casting Brendan Fraser??!

It was about 30 seconds screen time.

Because Stephen Sommers did The Mummy, and is good buddies with Brenden :)

It's called a cameo. Would you say it was a waste of their time for Dwight Schultz and Dirk Benedict to be in blink and you'll miss them, scenes in the A-Team movie?

Real answer He is friends with the director.

Better answer he was much better at promoting the film than the cast was.

The reason why they cast Brendan was on short notice and he asked to be in it.

It all started when he was filming "The Mummy 3". Around the area Steven Sommers (Director of the first two Mummy movies and G.I. Joe) was directing G.I. Joe. Brendan heard about the news, and since he had a G.I. Joe action figure as a kid and was a fan, he really wanted to be in the movie.

So after he (literally) begged, Sommers let him have a cameo. It was unaccredited because it all happened at the last minute.

Who did Fraser play?

reply

He played one of the Joes watching Duke fighting Snake Eyes at the base. The camera focuses on him for about 30 seconds total.

I actually liked his cameo! Nice to see him and Arnold Vosloo in the same movie again.
