Not that I dislike Jacki Weaver or found her role as Pat's mother to be poorly acted... But she was a very minor character. I wouldn't have nominated her because the script didn't give her character much to do, thus she really didn't stand out to me at all.
shareWhile I have always felt that Cooper, De Niro, and Jennifer Lawrence deserved a nomination, I feel similar to you. She played the part fine, but it was more of a "Plain Jane" role unlike the characters of Pat, Tiffany, and Pat Sr.
