Top 10 Horror Movies of the Decade

Found a list of the Top 10 Horror Movies of the Decade. Saw Rec on there and was very happy. Any thoughts?

Deserving of being there you think?

Seriously, what the *beep* is your obsession with random top 10 lists? Did you make these or something? You must have posted these on like 100 different boards.

I agree, stop looking at lists, stop making lists...... Pointless competition and/or putting things in 'order' is for just for souless, self righteous dullards, it's never constructive or enlightening. What about specific scenes, movies, characters, what moves you, what are you passionate about?.....

reply

I would say lists like this have positive sides for sure.

1. They are fun to make and discuss.
2. Quick way to get out word on movies people may or may not know. I can't count the amount of lists growing up I saw that turned me on to some movies I now adore but might not have known of otherwise.

reply

Too right. Leave the poor guy alone. Yay for lists.

im all for lists too-agree with lists opening me up to new movies..my top 10 (or 13) of the decade (that i've seen)
1. shaun of the dead
2. drag me to hell
3. saw
4. paranormal activity
5. planet terror
6. the mist
7. trick 'r treat
8. zombieland
9. 1408
10. 28 days later
11. 28 weeks later
12. signs
13. the others

that was just going off my imdb votes list, so it is in somewhat alphabetical order..its obviously heavily skewed towards the past 2 years as thats when i really started rating

reply

I seem to be the only person who didn't care for 1408.

i thought it was awesome... fourteen-oh-great awesome (that's right - i said it)... the room was alive and it ate the guest. that is awesome. i have seen 2 endings though ** spoilers ahead ** and the one that ended with the funeral was surprisingly unsatisfying when compared with the wife reunion ending.

thelaserguy - You're welcome. I know lists are probably more redundant than anything, but I've founded hundreds of good movies from them.

living - Is that a top 10 of all time then?

reply

Such a hard thing to rank...there are so few horror films made in the last 10 years that were good. Now, there were a few standouts, but here are my top ten since 2000 (except the first, no particular order):

1) The Descent (hands down)

2) Dog Soldiers (same director, great flick)

3) The Orphan (I gotta say...I loved this film. The demented girl actress MADE the movie)

4) Dagon

5) Stir of Echoes

6) Behind the Mask

7) Frailty

Here is where I'm stretching it a bit...

8) Feast

9) Saw

Really stretching it...

10) Hostel

reply

boondock - I think there a lot better ones out there, if you just look. 90% of horror films are junk, but there were definitely more than 25 or so good ones of late.

05.Haute Tension
04.May

02.Shutter(original)
01.A l'interieur(a.k.a. Inside)

reply

Absolutely, I think it deserves a spot on the list. I think The Descent is way too low on that list, however. I would place The Descent and [REC] in the first two spots.

reply

I am actually not a fan of zombie-monster horror ! but i liked them both as a movies! i liked [REC]'s beginning but then it became kinda predictable!!

reply

@thebleak - Curious to know what else would be up there for you.
