he's perfectly cast as an ugly, gap toothed gobsh!te. i have to admit that he was quite funny in a boorish scally kind of way and the audience all laughed at his delivery but he's only playing himself. the film itself is quite frankly, mediocre and seems to be almost entirely shot out of focus.
shareHaving seen him in Equus, Alfie is anything but ugly and managed the emotional range necessary for Alan Strang far more convincingly than Daniel Radcliffe.
Alfie's an easy target because of who his dad and sister are but he's actually a good little actor in his own right! :)
