Location for the seaside houses

Does anybody know where they filmed the house he lived in as a teenager? All the locations were wonderful, but those beach houses really stunning. Reminded me of Derek Jarmen's garden.

you have probably read this elsewhere by now but it was in South Africa. Derek Jarman's garden was down in Dungeoness, Kent and was very, very flat. I felt that the mountains in the background rather gave it away that it wasn't in the UK. Looked wonderful though.

Dungeness, not Dungeoness. They looked liked bigger-than-normal beach huts, not really suitable for year-round living in an English climate.

Yes, but you can see they're very much fair-weather homes. I'd hate to live there in the winter.
