Last five minutes were great, but...

the rest of the film seemed dull and uninteresting, especially given the quality of the actors involved.

I agree entirely. The characters were dull, there was little drama or humour to the plot, the characterisation was sketchy and the setting just wasn't right. I never thought it was either California or England (except for the farm next to the motorway, that must have been the UK).

The only reason I watched it all the way through is because the two tasty male leads had a habit of stripping off their tight jeans or skimpy shorts for skinny dipping and circle jerks. On that basis, 10 out of 10!

I actually think that this movie offered so many promising aspects, but failed to deliver in so many ways. The dialogue in this movie is terrible and the actors treat it mechanically (or in the sense of Joe's maid, over dramatically). The story itself is fascinating, but the treatment and execution were terrible.
