Question about ending (Spoiler)
I dozed off, saw it on a plane… but can someone explain if and how John died in the end? Or was it supposed to be a decoy death?

shareHe ended up facing Kane in a shootout with both men starting out by walking 20 paces or something to the effect, then turning around and when the Elder says "Fire", they both fire at each other while inching closer to one another until Kane gets the shot in at 10 paces and John goes down, but it should also be noted that John didn't fire his gun back at Kane either and instead, killed the main antagonist.. After that, John has a few words with Winston, then proceeds to walk down a flight of stairs, then sits down and reflects on his life with his wife and how happy he was, then from a distance, he falls over and dies(supposedly). I say "Supposedly" because they're not content with ending this franchise and instead, will find a way to bring Wick back from the dead in a 5th installment which to me is a big mistake..
shareYou might add John fired at the main antagonist (Marquis) because when John was on the ground (having not taken his shot), the Marquis stepped in and insisted on firing the killshot himself assuming John had fired and no longer a threat. He was dead wrong!
*Edit. Being a huge fan of the franchise I recalled they planned on doing at least 5 films and then changed course with this film. I was not ready to let go of JW in the 4th film especially since I was expecting another. I hope they do a 5th where John wipes out The High Table entirely (as he said he would), and walks off into the sunset with a new dogo.
Yes.. Definitely.. It's been awhile since I've seen it so I was pretty much winging the answer
shareSunset ending with a dogo is the right way…. I wholeheartedly agree.
shareThanx. That his dog wasn’t part of his reminiscing memory was a letdown to me.
I feel his end would be better if he just went into the sunset and disappeared …
