What do people think of Guadagnino

I haven't heard of this director before this announcement, but I checked Rotten Tomatoes to see what the critics think of his work. Only one of his films, I Am Love, has any sort of rating on the Tomatormeter, where it's certified fresh at an 80%. The general consensus of critics on that film is "It stumbles into melodrama, but I Am Love backs up its flamboyance with tremendous visual style and a marvelous central performance from Tilda Swinton" Now while I'm not crazy about the idea of a Suspiria remake and I'm unable to account for the work of the director myself, if anybody is going to take on the helm of a remake, I can't think of a more ideal candidate than an Italian arthouse director who an eye for lavish visual style who isn't afraid to dive into melodrama. I just hope he has good horror sensibilities. But he must be a better choice than David Gordon Green.
