Here is why I am open to the idea of a Suspiria remake
First off, I adore Suspiria to the fullest.
So when I first heard that this film was being remade, I was totally and 100% against. But I heard about this being remade a few years ago, and the original director attached to the project was David Gordon Green, or as I like to call him, the Pineapple Express motherfkker (despite the 420 in my username, I hate that fkking movie). I was worried this was going to be a dumb Americanized version made by people who knew the original film was popular without understanding it, and I was worried they would focus too much on plot and not enough on what the experience of watching Suspiria is supposed to be like. But then the remake got scrapped, and I was like phew! But then the remake was re-announced, and this new person at the helm is Luca Guadagnino. Right off the bat, I still haven't seen any of his films, but I notice he was an Italian filmmaker and likely dabbled in a few arthouse films. I looked into his films, but the only one to really score on the Tomatometer is his film I Am Love. The general consensus of that film on that website is "It stumbles into melodrama, but I Am Love backs up its flamboyance with tremendous visual style and a marvelous central performance from Tilda Swinton", and this is very descriptive of the kind of person I'd want to remake Suspiria. Melodrama, flamboyance, visual style. Plus he can work with actors too, which is something he can add to Suspiria that is absent from the original. Also, most producers of this seem to be Italian, so if it's mostly an Italian production as opposed to a Hollywood joint, it might not fall into the same pitfalls as most mainstream American horror crap.
