What’s Martin’s Endgame .. spoilers

In the closing scene Martin decides to take Malcolm with him as he escapes.

What is his endgame in regards to Malcolm?

His son openly begged his father to escape because he knows the police ,including Dani, don’t think it would be a bad thing if Martin died rather than be captured.

Malcolm confessed indirectly he has feelings for his father and wants him to live when he begs him to “Run”

Throughout the series , Martin often tell his son that they are alike..

Malcolm instead has all his life tried to prove that they are not ..that’s one of the reason why he chose to become a profiler and hunt murderers / serial killers like his father.

Watching the promo for the finale looks like Martin turns on Malcolm with a knife but I slow motioned the scene and actually to me it appears that as Malcolm blocks his father’s armed hand, Martin with the other hand grabs Malcolm’s hand and his own with the knife and instead of pushing them away he stabs himself.

Is Martin willing to sacrifice his own life to prove to Malcolm that he is capable of taking a life .. even if in this case it would be self defence.?

Martin on the surface seems normal but what father would be proud if his son followed his footsteps as a murderer?

Martin escaped for a reason that involved his family/ Malcolm but Vivian sabotaged that.

And he clearly invited Malcolm to search/ reach him .. what did he have in mind once they were together?
