This sucks. I rarely watch Network tv anymore. I've migrated to cable & streaming.
This is literally one of 2 or 3 shows I watch & keep up with.
That sinks 🤬..
I binged watched season 1 a month ago and was totally engaged in season2.
Fox cheated us out ..
Season 1 had 20 episodes.
I was okay having only 13 episodes in season 2 but damn it we deserved a season 3.
I would have enjoyed the anticipation with glee.
There is still so much more to be addressed ..
For starters .. I wanted to see everyone’s reaction when the truth about Endicott’s death got out..
I wanted to see what happened to Ainsley ..
and see lots more of our damaged Malcolm.
Damn Fox.
You're right. So many other shows run past the story they have to tell and get stale. This one is the opposite. There's still so much more to be had from it.

I quite enjoyed the premise (a wee different and darker than the likes of the Cop's assistant shows I've enjoyed before like White Collar and Castle plus The Mentalist) but it was losing my attention this year.
The Ainslie story seemed a good idea and the "My Girrrrrl" from Martin was fantastic but then sidetracked the show for me.
There'll be another cop show like it along in no time.
I wasn't sure I could be bothered with a 3rd series so if they wrap up the last two episodes in some decent manner, it'll be alright by me.

@. With all due respect, Prodigal Son is far more than just a cop show...
the heart of this series is Malcolm’s tormented , love /hate relationship with his serial killer father.
I love that he became a profiler ..he couldn’t save the girl in the box ,so he dedicates his life to hunting down murderers and psychos.
This series oozes with drama..
Personally I think season2 lost none of its captivating vibe ..loved the build up to these last episodes ... the drama just keeps on coming.. full of thrills and twists.
The promo for the finale hints that we are going to be left with an ever broken, devastated , mentally damaged Malcolm ..
That’s no way to leave fans .. let alone the actors that put their hearts into creating these amazing characters.

It's just a generic procedural to me. Murder of the week with a back story going on. It's like the three shows I mentioned and The Mentalist was just as dark given Jane's family ordeal. White Collar and Castle might have been more light hearted but they still all follow the same formula.
I do understand being upset that it won't have a proper conclusion when you're invested in a show though.
I'm still seething that Surface was cancelled all those years ago with Nim in the water an the main cast all stranded as the floods rose.

@Sorry I have never heard of White Collar or Castle and The Mentalist, I have seen less than 10 episodes .. I read the main character’s family was killed by a serial killer.. but the episodes I saw the serial killer was never even mentioned.
Malcolm and his relationship with his serial killer father instead is the core/focal point of the series..
.. biggest chunk of each episode is dedicated to Malcolm’s flashbacks, his visits to his father and his ongoing psychological issues which began after he found the girl in the box as a child....
.. the weekly murder is the backstory .. just a filler... but just the same interesting cause we get to see how skilled Malcolm is as a profiler.. good part of his knowledge he acquired from his father during his visits as he grew up before he decides to go to Quantico.
Of course fans like me are pissed off .. it’s like seeing 2/3 of a great film and then someone denies you the conclusion.
I’m still hoping that with the petition we get a 3rd season ..

@ I see ... Fox does this on a regular basis .. leave fans high and dry ..
maybe it’s time viewers rebelled
.. stopped watching their productions in protest until they understand that fans and actors, who pour their soul into their characters, deserve to be respected.
Terrible news. This is the only show I actually stay current on.
There are so many storylines yet to explore and so much development yet to come. It's a shame.

Tom Payne, soon after the news came out that it had been axed, wrote that it’s better to go with a blast rather than fade slowly ..
I get he wants to appear strong but honestly Prodigal Son still has at least a season’s worth of great storytelling to be told.
I hope this petition works ..fingers crossed
Maybe Netflix will pick it up like they did with Lucifer.
shareJust occurred to me. The final episode was filmed before the series was cancelled. That means it will probably not have a proper conclusion, just an end of season episode, maybe even end on a cliffhanger like Scorpion and The Good Cop.
shareI feel ya the only 2 shows I was watching were cancelled, this one and Clarice which I am not too bummed about.
