im not a huge huge fan of the movie, it was entertaining, not great. Rainn is funny, just take it for what it is, a teenage comedy. Not an adult or a kid movie.

Iron Eagle was not Top Gun

Raging Bull was not Rocky

Goodfallas was not the Godfather

The Rocker is not School of Rock

I don't think comparing films is the problem, especially when they share the same themes.

However to claim one is a ripoff or copy of the other is when the problems arise.

As in this case, it is totally its own movie and very funny.

your correct - i used the word compare, to imply ripoff - but you got what i meant,
