.. that it was going to turn out that Fish was going to be Curtis's dad? First there was the bit about Curtis telling Fish that he wanted his dad to hear him play and Fish was saying it's never gonna happen etc. What was the point of that if it went absolutely nowhere? Then there was the bit where it turned out Curtis's mum was in a band when she got pregnant at 17, so I thought it would turn out that they played for Vesuvius when Fish was still in the band and she had a drunken fling with Fish. Again that went absolutely nowhere and brought nothing to the story, then thirdly there was the whole chemistry between Fish and Curtis's mum that, once again, did nothing for the story apart from it indirectly got Fish forced out of the band. Maybe that was originally part of the script but got dropped before its release, I don't know. It just seems like there were too many needless bits of the story which pointed in that direction.

GripperFish, very well thought. I didn't think of it when I watched the movie but maybe they have put this there not as a needless bit, but to show a difference between the mindset of Fish's (and Curti's mom) generation and the new generation (playing videogame while in tour). For us to even think that there might have happen a relationship between both without them remembering it is to assume the road was a really crazy environment those days - although I don't think it is different today. But anyway. very well noticed.

I was thinking almost the same thing, but figured it would be too cliche for them to actually do it. And then they don't really even sum everything up in the end.

i thought curtis' dad was gonna end up being the drummer who replaced rainn in vesuvious and they would have a big stand-off at the end. it would have been really over the top a-la will ferrell movies, which i honestly would have preferred instead of them trying to make it so family friendly

it didn't occur to me but you make a good point. still, fish was dumped from his band 20 years earlier, which doesn't quite sync up with curtis's age. and, curtis's mom would have certainly remembered fish if she'd slept with him 18 years earlier. but, you make some good points.
