Howard Hesseman
Did Howard play Gator? Was that the tour-bus driver's character?
shareThat was him.
My favorite roll for him was Smooth Walker, in Dr. Detroit.
Well established as a more than capable actor, he's done relatively little work for quite a long while. One would think that more roles would be available if he wanted them. Did his TV success allow him choose whether he wanted to continue his career or not?
Whatever the case. . why the heck would he accept a less-than-minor part like the bus driver in this film? Anybody know?

Hollywood's a harsh business, particularly as you age. What used to be plentiful roles dwindle into relatively meager for most actors as they get older, as might be the case for Hesseman. Or maybe he's just doing other things and acting is just a part-time job for him as a way of making some easy cash.
