I turned this off after 30 minutes...

Maybe my roommates and I didn't give this a fair chance, but after rainn wilson pulled out "eleventy billion" i had a feeling this was going to be completely asinine. Several more groan-inducing jokes followed and we eventually cut it off and watched the Beatles Anthology instead. From what I did see it seemed like a crap teen movie aimed at the guitar hero generation more than at real musicians.

i had the same realization at the exact same moment. but i powered on and you're right, it was downhill from there.

but seriously, i wasn't aware that hollywood made movies for serious musicians?

This movie was pretty bad. I love watching films and hate any distraction, but I even found myself facebooking 1/2 way through the movie last night when I rented it.

I have a competition in me. I want no one else to succeed. I hate most people.

You didn't miss anything much, I pretty much regretted sitting through the whole thing. One or two genuine laughs but nothing special, if it weren't for Rainn's inherent likability and few other decent supporting actors (Lynch, Garlin) it would be a total disaster.

Captain Murphy: Way to go Sparks, you broke the monitor and you're dead. Happy?

haha I'm on here after 30 minutes seeing who else thinks this movie is *beep* And yes, the jokes are only getting worse. I can visualise a bunch of douchey writers with no sense of humour sitting in a room hi 5ing each other for coming up with this pap.

'Forget about it.'

I got all the way to 38 minutes. Luckily I rented it from a kiosk for like a dollar. I didn't lose much.

Rainn Wilson has never been funny a day in his life, and this is coming from someone who has tried to like him. He's a hack 'actor' who doesn't understand a thing about acting, doesn't know what comedy is, and has absolutely no likable traits of any kind in his personality. Not to mention he is, and always has been, an utter train wreck to look at. This doesn't apply to him being an actor, there are plenty of ugly ones who have talent. The problem is, if he can't act -at all- and he doesn't induce laughter... why is he famous?
