Can anyone recommend any other movies that are like this or at least have a rock theme. Thought this was hilarious and I love music movies. Thanks!

In my opinion the best movie with rock theme is Almost Famous (2000) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181875/

Hey Coop thanks for the listing, I checked it out..it reminded me of so many great films that I have seen and almost forgotten about. I have to update my collection of DVD's because a lot of films on that list are classics. Thanks a lot.

Josie and The Pussycats. If you liked this then I almost guarantee you'll dig it. I'd even venture to say that it's quite a bit funnier and the songs are far more catchy and inventive. Plus you get Alan Cummings and the awesomeness that is Parker Posey.

Enjoy!

I'm glad they didn't. I can't stand Jack Black. Just plain not funny and way, way too arrogant.

Love Rocker movies myself but definitely check out..

1. Almost Famous
2. School of Rock
3. The Doors
4. The Rose (gotta add this one, though its tragic Bette played one heck of a role in it)
5. Eddie and the Cruisers (first one, I didn't like the 2nd one as much)
6. Rock Star
7. There are some documentary style movies with classic rock bands but I can't think of the name right now..something about Volume. (I just remembered what the name was of the movie its called "This is Spinal Tap" definitely add that one to your list.
8. Woodstock 1969 Documentary is great titled Woodstock (1970) but it actually was made August 16-19 1969.
9. Ray (Jamie Fox)
10. What's Love Got to do with It (About Ike and Tina Turner, great one)
11. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Tim Curry was phenomenal in this - parental guidance advised for this movie)
12. The Blues Brothers
13. Purple Rain

If I think of some others I will let you know.

PS. I keep editing because I keep thinking of movies.

I know this topic was asked back in 09, and the OP probably doesn't give a crap anymore but ill answer it anyway since i have nothing better to do and literally just finished viewing the film. (I enjoyed it by the way, i was pleasantly surprised, i had put it off for years because i thought it looked stupid.)

Well here are my suggestions:

-School of Rock
-Rock star
-Almost Famous
-Airheads
-Josie & the Pussycats
-Walk Hard
-SLC Punk!
-Detroit Rock City
-This is Spinal Tap
-Sid & Nancy
-NANA Pts. 1 & 2 (its in Japanese FYI)
-Empire Records
-Singles
-Beck (its in Japanese FYI)
-Waynes World 1 & 2
-Last Days

And if you wanna further expand your horizons check out the animated versions of Beck (the Mongolian Chop Squad) & NANA. They are both extremely well done. Make sure you see the English DUBS for both shows too.
