Josh Gad is beyond sucky!

The winner who played Rain Wilson's nephew SUCKED! How the hell is this dude still getting work? He's like a more timid and less literal version of Jonah Hill- and I think Jonah Hill sucks too, so this guy is beyond suck!

For a weak movie to begin with, this fat b@stard made it even worse. I feel I would have liked it more if they got someone else to fill the role. The other two band members seemed at least kind of appropriate and Rain Wilson did the best with what he was given.

Wow...harsh criticism! I think his character was supposed to be "timid," lack confidence, and geeky.

reply

I know what you mean. I thought the movie was funny due to Rainn Wilson but Josh Gad blew in this movie. The whole time i wanted to punch him in the face. He kept trying to be jonah hill but it just wasnt working for him

reply

A) I am a firm believer of giving criticism where it is deserved. This dip$hit can't act! I actually found myself attempting to give this movie another shot about 3 days ago and had to turn it off immediately after seeing his stupid face.

I'm sorry, it just makes me sick that someone like him is getting paid upwards of $80,000 per movie for doing such a poor job.

B) I freaking HATE Jonah Hill!! So, to say that he is worse than Jonah Hill has to put him in a category that is beyond the rational level of being bad.

Screw this kid.

Wow. Criticism where criticism is due is fine, but that's just really harsh. Granted, this is all your opinion and nobody has to agree with it, but I think Jonah Hill is funny most of the time, and I thought Josh gad was alright. I mean, this was one of his first movies, cut him some slack. I'd recommend lightening up a little bit if it actually makes you sick that he's making money off this. And this is only my opinion, you know. You seem to have an awful lot of hatred for a kid you don't even know, and I think that's unnecessary.

I just feel that credit should only be given where it is due. I mean, if I were to undergo surgery from a surgeon that on par with Gad's acting I would probably switch surgeons! There are a plethora of skilled and dedicated actors out there, why are we putting so much stock into the morons?

Let's look at it from a comedy standpoint. On a spectrum of comedy, where George Carlin is 100, Dave Chappelle is 80 and Jim Carry is a 50, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera and this pleeb, Gad would probably fall in the 2 to 3 range. I think Nick Cage is a better actor than any one of these saps- and he IS a terrible actor!

Wow. I read this, and came back to it.

What is with the hatred of this kid? Are you wishing it was you in the movies? If that is why you are so angry, then sign up and get out there and try to be an extra or get a job in one.

If you hate fat people, shut up and get over it.

This kid was not that bad and the movie called for a chubby, awkward young teen, NOT a sleek, confident, cocky sure of himself person. Wouldn't have worked.

The great thing about movies and entertainment in general? If you don't like it, you don't have to watch it, listen to it, or talk about it.

Suggestion.

Grow up. If you don't like someone or something DON'T watch them or listen to them. But, instead of putting them down because YOU aren't crazy about them, shut up and let them go for their dreams and do what makes THEM happy.

I so hope you don't have kids.....passing along the hate gene is just too common these days. Nothing like an open mind and tolerance.

I agree with the OP. First time I saw this actor. He was horrible. Monotone and emotionless like Jonah Hill , another bad actor. To criticize and say folks are fat bashers is wrong. There are plenty of great fat actors. Philip Seymour Hoffman, George Wendt,Shirley Hemphill, John Belushi, Victor Buono, John Candy, Shelly Winters,Victor Buono, Doris Roberts, and even Marlon Brando in his later years. It is unfair , to say we are haters because we dare criticize someone that is a fat actor .

reply

I don't hate him because of his body type, I hate him because of his acting ability (or lack there of, actually). My "hate genes" may be one thing, but your ignorance is something completely different. I would NEVER want to live in a world without criticism and the idea that this idiot is continuing to get work is deserving of all kinds of criticism. Maybe you should think twice about procreating as well.

They obviously wrote parts for Jonah Hill and Jack Black and both turned the script down. Like when the Zombieland guys wrote that movie because they thought it would be hilarious to see Michael Cera fight zombies and they ended up with that ugly nobody. Everyone seems to be in demand for the Superbad guys. The movie wasn't even that good. I see all these wannabes pop up in movies and commercials. The advertisers probably think they will fool people or catch their attention like people will stop and watch the commercial going "isn't that the guy from Superbad? He's so funny hahahaha."

reply

The pathetic part is, the actors from Superbad weren't even that great! Overall, the only thing that movie had going for it, in my eyes, was the high school nostalgia factor. Most of the scenes seemed a little too familiar and that was both funny and weird.

Overall, these actors play the same timid, awkward and passive characters over and over again. For film snobs like myself it get's pretty tiring and irritating.

Josh Gad was cast to play a "neurotic super-nerd" and he was fine. Cast in the role he was in, he was supposed to support the lead character(s) and he did.

If you don't like him, it sounds personal. I'm not a fan of either Johna Hill or Jack Black, so I thought this movie was cast perfectly. Jane Lynch was completely overlooked for an excellent performance.

reply

I'm not a fan of them either but I can see it's painfully obvious that these roles were written for them. If the actors took it and made it their own then it wouldn't have been so bad but no these are impersonations of some recent undeservedly popular actors. A combination of that Guitar Hero and a few internet references is the whole movie. A complete rip off attempting to appeal to kids.

reply

Oh yeah, not having Michael Cera REALLY brought down "Zombieland"/snark

Though I would love to see a film which has Jake Gyllenhall, Tobey MacGuire, Jesse Eisenberg and Michael Cera in a battle of look-alikes

reply

Jake killed himself with that gay cowboy movie. He was pretty under the radar until then. Makes me sad every time his name is mentioned.

Have you even seen "that gay cowboy movie"? I'm betting you haven't. It's excellent, btw. And no - I'm not a homosexual. Also, 'under the radar'? Never hear of a little indie movie called "Donnie Darko" then? Boy, you're full of cr4p.

Here's my quote:

"kkJamie killed himself with that gay cowboy movie lame. He was completely under the radar until then - & pretty-much always will be. Makes me bloody laugh every time his name is mentioned."

Have a nice day now, y'hear..?

Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit shootin' smack...

reply

Thank Medusa they got "that ugly nobody". Zombieland was an amazing movie and Jesse was great. I wouldn't have watched with Michael. Cera.

reply

I'm constantly amazed how people can see things so differently than another. I actually thought that the kid was perfect for the role he played. A total nerd, no social skills at all. He had some very funny likes, perfectly deadpanned. I'd have to see him in something else to see if he truly has acting skills but for what they wrote for him, he did very well. A lot better than anything Jonah Hill ever turned out. His "ad-libbed" part in the 2nd "Night at the Museum" was absolutely horrendous.

Back to this kid... I especially liked how he was spouting off at the parents in the police stations and he starts off yelling and delivers "Lower my voice..." and then continues on the rant. Very funny!

Instead of just saying "He blows"... tell us how he blows, what was so bad specifically. Your opinion would then carry a bit more weight.

He was my favorite part of the show.

Do all heavy guys have to be compared to each other? I didn't see him and think Jonah Hill at all.

But, as said, haters gonna hate.

In Hollywood like everywhere else in life there are certain spectrums of roles and yeah you get people who are basically the same character, is the kid an acting genius? Not by any stretch of the imagination but was he good in the role...Yes, I thought he played a role that fit him, they didn’t ask him to be some kinda secret Don Juan, they wanted him to be who he was, and I think the movie was better for it.

I understand that you hate the actor and obviously you have every right to that opinion, as well as the right to voice it. Just out of curiosity what actors do you like?

Oh just to show I am human – what does my head in is off spring of celebrities getting opportunities when other people have put in more work to get a shot. Case in point Will Smith’s children.

Josh Gad is doing a Broadway musical now, and it's obscenely successful.
I'm scoffing at your opinion of him right now.
