From the time he was in the band?
Why did he have to go back to lvng in Lee's basement?
Couldn't he have at least enough for an apartment? Or a hotel at least?
He got kicked out before they got the contract and made any real money. I'm sure he didn't wisely invest the little money they had made for the little shows they did before they kicked him out.

Movie pretty much explained what Fishes spending habbits were like when that old asian guy let him crash at his place and said his take out orders put his kids through college.
So that combined with whatever else extreme amount of things he bought during that time would blow the money rather quickly I'd imagine.
