Pitt get political

yikes

reply

He got a little political, barely worth mentioning, but then he turned the speech around and it was cool, then that Once Upon a Time In Hollywood line was a little eh but I guess it's better to be rehersed than not rehearsed. Good for him getting an Oscar though.

says the man whos an ex-alcoholic hypocrite

reply

You mean Pitt is an ex alcoholic hypocrite?

reply

Pitt or darkpast?

reply

It was rare to have a category with two no-shows - neither Pesci nor Hopkins is there.

Pitt joins Hanks as a two-time Oscar-winner among the supporting actor line-up.

While I thought it was a very good role for him, he was clearly a lead in OUATIH. It always irritates me when leading roles are pushed into supporting to open an easier path to the win, denying genuine supporting actors a chance.

reply

I agree. It’s an easy way to promote the film and squeeze an award for and out of the rest.

reply

Yes and it’s routine now, sadly. The supporting categories were created for character actors to have their moment. I’m happy Laura Dern won for a genuine supporting role but Pitt’s win irks me.

reply

Im glad Scarlett didnt win an anything and as much as I like Dern for this role I thought was bit small and the movie sucks. I was hoping for Charlize in the whole category though I generally like all the actresses.

In supporting I think Peaci shouldve won followed by Al. The fact that they both Lost to Pitt playing himself is bs.

reply

I liked Marriage Story.

I thought Pesci towered in the category, possibly his best-ever work. I wasn’t so big on Pacino, who to me was just doing his usual SHOUTY schtick. All the same, it was nice for him to have this moment after so long.

reply

Marriage story doesnt seem like an oscar film to me. Especially with so many nominations.

That’s big given Pesci has so many big roles.

reply

Big deal. Trump is political every day of his presidency. He has the right to be and so does Pitt. Get over it.

reply

Trump is in politics. Pitt is an actor and at an awards show for movies so you would hope he would have enough to talk about in that area alone.

What does he know about corruption in the Ukraine too? Right. Nothing.

reply

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT HE KNOWS?

reply

It doesn't take a lot of imagination to know he doesn't sit in w Donald Trump and get briefed on Ukraine policy and corruption lol. IMO he is just another actor misusing his influence. You can believe he is a foreign policy expert if you like though.

reply

THANKS FOR THE LESSON MR EXPERT.

reply

Happy to lift the mist. Maybe give the caps key a rest too.

reply

Kowalski argues just for the hell of it. Biggest asshole on this site. He doesn't know and will never know how to turn the caps key off.

reply

Trump made political statements when he wasn't in politics too. Just because you agree with Trump's ideology, that doesn't mean that Trump can make statements, but Pitt can't. You Republicans always want to shut up anyone with differing opinions.

reply

LMAO, and you Democrats don't try to shut up others with differing opinions? You listen closely and hear us out with open minds?

reply

Loggerheads

reply

Sorry we were talking about the inappropriateness of political opinion at the Academy awards which is supposed to be a night about the films and movie industry. Given your obvious biases , you would be going apoplectic if Clint Eastwood wore a MAGA hat lol.

reply

Jesus Christ, the Oscars have been political for years. Nothing new. If you don't like it, don't watch. I don't like Trump's tweeting, so I don't read them. FFS.

reply

And it again is stupid and misplaced past or present regardless of their particular stripe or beef. If you can't see that that is your problem. Not my fault some are grandstanding fools abusing their platform and the viewers shouldn't adjust their viewing to cater to them either FFS

reply

The Thing about Liberals they can talk about there politics but you cant talk about yours that is gatekeeping this from a Libertarian

reply

Trump is political every day of his presidency"

you dont fucking say ??

🤦🏽

reply

And even before he was President. If you want to split hairs.

reply

He wasn't very good at it, either. Didn't sound like a properly angry Lefty to me. I think he was just trying the words out.

reply

Agreed, it's almost like his handlers pushed for him to say something liberal, and it's the first time he's really thought about politics, so he googled something.

reply

LOL
