Kind of sad that Pixar booted Tim Allen for Chris Evans.

I know there was some kind of in-universe justification for recasting the voice of Buzz ("Tim plays the toy, Chris plays the real guy"), but I think it was a really odd, uncomfortable decision by Pixar. I'm guessing that the real-life rationale behind it was money (i.e. Tim Allen was asking for too much and / or Chris Evans is a more marketable name due to Marvel).

'Toy Story' used to be an iconic animated film series (with the occasional TV special). The shift to a spin-off that doesn't involve the toys, plus recasting long-time voice actors, really feels like Pixar making content over art. It's a little depressing.

yeah, because Tim Allen is the greatest hero of all time

Pretty sure it has less to do with money and more with politics.

It makes no sense the merchandise toys for the movie would have a totally different voice.

Tim Allen is, and shall always be, Buzz Lightyear the toy from TOY STORY.

Patrick Warburton is, and shall always be, Buzz Lightyear from BUZZ LIGHTYEAR OF STAR COMMAND.

Chris Evans is, and shall always be, Buzz Lightyear from #Lightyear.

It shows how recognisable the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are, Chris Evans has a fine voice but cannot compete with Allen. Disney will not stop trying to reinvent their catalogue of much loved characters, has there been a successful one yet? Maleficent maybe, all the Star Wars ones have been received negatively by a lot of fans.
