What seems to be the problem?

Okay, so I just watched the first and the second movie. The first one last night and the second one 1 hour ago... Before I watched both movies, I came here to see what people had to say about the two movies. Well, I don't understand why everyone's hating on the second one ! I thought it was pretty good actually. The first one was good too, and it felt nice to have some characters from the first one in the sequel. For example, when Bud Fox meets Gordon Gekko at the ceremony and they talk about the past...

SO why am I here? I REALLY want to know what you, people who didn't enjoy the second movie, have to say about why you didn't like it... Because there isn't really a thread where you explain explicitly (and without fighting) why you didn't like it.

Btw, I read some reviews from the board but I thought it wasn't relevant enough...

Not trying to put up a fight here, just want to know your opinion and how you'd argument it !

It's easy
The movie is just not as captivating/interesting as the first one
Shia lebeuff is not a good actor
Story is not interesting
Female actor is just annoying

I really blame it on the female lead. Winnie Gekko.. liberal.. wants to stay non profit.. stupid short hair. The stock market dialog between Jake, his buddy and coworkers actually is fascinating but not all people like or understand it.

I watched 1 and 2 back to back for the first time a couple years ago. I liked them both. Sure, the second one isn't quite as intriguing as the first, but few sequels ever are. I thought it was fine for it what was, and Michael Douglas was great as always.

I think Goldenoir, with all films and their sequels, people will almost always hate the sequel just for the sake of preserving the great original in the heart as always being the best. Like Star Wars, Spiderman, I dont know, must be a natural human reaction of some sort.

Like you I watched them both back to back and I cant say the first was any better than the second or that the second was such a crap movie.

The first one had alot of Stock talk which I didnt understand, the second was slightly more understandable for the layman I thought. Maybe they humanised Gekko too much and gave him morals which is quite contradictory of his younger self and the viewers just didnt like seeing that change.
