I agree. I finally watched this and he was terrible in this role. Not one thing he spoke in this movie sounded believable.

He played his part well, Douglas done well as well, bloody Winnie was horrendous!
He is not even close to being a good actor. He's mediocre at BEST. And the fact that he was in those atrocious Transformer movies ruined his reputation. You could say they made him, and broke him simultaneously. lol. Meaning, everybody knew who he was because of the films, but everybody hates him because he was in the films.
shareI think Stone wanted to a cast a boring / vanilla actor so he wouldn't take the focus off Douglas. The movie (like the first one) was about Gordon Gekko first and foremost.
