Charlie Sheen 1987 vs Shia LaBeouf 2010
Why does Charlie Sheen at 21 years old look like a young man and Shia LaBeouf at 23 looks like an annoying teenager?

Shia's gonna look 14 forever
shareThat may be true but those are the guys that still look goooood in their 40's and beyond, while most of the guys considered manly and hot in my younger days are now just fat and bald and jealous. I'm a girl, and maybe it's just how most of guys I grew up with turned out but it's often the case. Just what I've noticed, anyway!
shareShias performance was just bulls****, it's never all about the looks. For example the scene where he is in the woods with Bretton and he gets angry.. made me laugh, it looks like Shia just cant demonstrate enough confidence on screen as he does loke like a 14 year old screaming to his dad :)
share^This
shareI agree that he cant command confidence, but i do think that it because of his looks. When he delived the line about "if you ride for the rest of your life, youll never be as good as me", i didnt know if it was meant as a cocksure challenge, or a friendly joshing.
shareIndiana Jones. Wall Street. Transformers. How many franchises will he ruin before directors realize he's a piece of sh**?
share^^
When people stop watching his movies. I mean I don't, except for this movie because I'm a fan of the first movie, but a lot of people who don't know what good acting is watch his movies, and sadly, they pay. We should be paid for watching this talentless ****.
LeBeauf was not the cause for those movies sucking, at all. Indy 4 had stupid scenes like with the chipmunks and the refrigerator. Transformers was just all bad, even the robots sucked ass. Wall street 2 was horrible and LeBeauf is arguably (and sadly) the only decent performance in it. He performed poorly in the other 2 but he wasn't the main reason they sucked.
shareLaBeouf was AMAZING in Money Never Sleeps. And I would have preferred him in the original Wall Street. Sheen was miscast. It should have been James Spader.
shareSheen was a great while Shia is B.S.
shareDisregarding whether he can act or not. The simple fact is he was completely miscast in the role. He is not only too young but he also looks too young. An I-banker at the level he was supposed to be at and with the credibility he was supposed to have would have been older, most likely in their early 30's he is about 10 years too young to be believable. That was my problem... was like having a teenager play a grandfather, it just made you want to laugh.
shareYou must carry horse *beep* in that thick skull of yours instead of normal brains.
Hama cheez ba-Beer behtar meshawad!
Shia probably wasn't born when they were filming the original Wall Street, so how could he have been in the original? And James Spader WAS in the original, just not a main part. Charlie was perfect. I can't imagine anyone else as Bud Fox...and obviously since his father played his father it was perfect. There is a whole discussion about Charlie and Martin's performances and relationship on the DVD extras.
shareThey are both weak. Tom Cruise stinks now but he almost did the first Wall Street film, back then it would have been better with him than Sheen.
shareCruise would be better, Shia is gonna look 21 til he is 45ish -
shareYeah..
Now that I think of it, Tom Cruise would've fit like a glove in that role.
Good call.

I am not sure about Sheen's height vs LaBeouf's, but it seemed like the camera angles were at a higher angle when filming LaBeouf. This made him seem shorter and look smaller than the angles from which Sheen were shot.
Also Sheen was portraying an ambitious but naive young man, while LaBeouf was suppose to be this experienced trader. A young man trying to portray an older role is simply going to fail and come across as kiddish. Sheen was a 21 year old portraying a 21 year old while LaBeouf was a 23 year old portraying a character who would have been older. Hence Sheen is more believable.
That's my best reasoning. There is a lot about this movie that I simply don't understand.
hell yeah! how about cruise instead of sheen in Platoon? movie woudl have been 10x better, and it was still a good movie.

I agree with this and also, the other poster that said Shia was amazing. I agree, he wasn't that bad, I have no idea why people down this movie, because Gekko did something good? Like he said, he's human, he was in jail all that time, of course he wanted to see his grandson. Shia's performance was pretty damn good, that scene after Louis' suicide or that other scene where Winnie gives him back the ring, he was excellent in those. He wasn't bad in here IMHO.

Which will make him much more attractive. Most of the guys who looked like big grown men when I was in my twenties are now fat and bald. Some of the geeky way-young looking guys grew a little and are still in good shape and NOW getting the girls who thought they were beneath them back then. Revenge of the nerds! Haha!
shareI like the tiger, and this Lebœuf is awful at best.
