missing the best climax of all Palahniuk's work

Just gave this film a second viewing, this time with someone who had not read the book. Appreciated it much more this time; the lighthearted tone actually seems to fit the movie. It still has dark comedy elements but just not so gritty like people expected.
However it still seems like they ran out of money while making this film. The rock tower subplot never comes to fruition. It is one of my favorite moments of all Palahniuk's books.

BOOK SPOILER:
First it must be said that he pulls the choking stunt much more in the novel. Maybe a hundred times over his life. Basically all the people that helped Victor after he 'choked' over the years see him on tv (this part was in the movie) when he asks for help. Then the film never resolves this. In the book, they all show up to his house to help build the rock tower. They begin to discuss amongst each other how they know Victor and the realization that they were all duped spreads through the crowd like wildfire and it turns into a full scale riot. Now THAT is a climax, that is great writing, and it would have made a fantastic movie scene. Coupled with the the other twists, this would have made the movie infinitely better in my opinion. There's more to the book than that even so I fully recommend it if you like Palahnuik.
