They always cast like 25-28 year olds to play high school kids

It takes away the magic of the movie. These kids are supposed to be 16-17 years old but they look like they're 25 years or older (especially the guy who played Ryan). The guy who played Jake's friend looked young and it was really distracting cause Jake looked like 10 years older than him but they were supposed to be the same age.

They always do this in movies. Why not set it in college or something. The worst case is that movie "Fired Up" when they cast a 35 year old Eric Christen Olsen to play a 17 year old high school boy.

Ya it annoys me too. But it is more logical for the director because adult actors can work for longer, there is less legalities, they dont need an on-set parent, they dont require 3 hours of schooling a day and they cost less to insure. If you cast kids you have to provide all of that.

By far not the worst case - I bet you've never seen the original Beverly Hills 90210 :3

All the high school fighters in this movie were probably held back several times due to the numerous hits to the heads they sustained by constantly fighting in their little amateur fight clubs and avoiding hospitals as much as possible.

Seriously, it actually makes sense!
