What are the odds?

I like the show, but what are the odds that he would go to a diner in Philly and bump into Rosie O' Donnell and Gene Hackmen inside a road house in New Mexico?

reply

Statistically, your odds of bumping into Rosie O'Donnell at a restaurant are very high. Where else would she be?

That being said, there's plenty of advance notice when DDD is pulling into town. Most of the regular customers will be told that the show will be filming on such and such a date. Plus, a restaurant might be given extra consideration if it's known to be a hangout of famous celebrities.

More typically, you see local politicians and local celebrities. When they featured Matt's Big Breakfast in Phoenix, the Mayor of Phoenix was there and one of the 'random' customers they interviewed is a local news anchor.

LOL @ the Rosie reply.

"Rue the day?" Who talks like that?

reply

Probably the same odds that the Mayor would just happen to be at that fish place in Hialeah... (and they didn't identify him! )

Of course, they know Guy and the crew are coming - for the show's sake as well. Really screw up the segment if it turned out to be the week the owner or head chef went on vacation.

BTW, I missed a show with Rosie O'Donnell? THANK GOD!!!!

Usually her quest appearance on a show is a "Jump the Shark" moment (starting with "Queer Eye"). Hope it doesn't happen here.

Who doesn't?

I've been in restaurants with Woody Harrelson, Chuck Norris and other celebs. My mother has been in restaurants with Andy Griffith, Alan Hale ("the Skipper too..."), Drew Barrymore's father or grandfather (can't remember which one). They all just happened to be there. I also see celeb autographs in small-town restaurants all over the place.
