So who liked (or disliked) this movie?
I thought it was decent enough (6/10) but could've been better. The premise was intriguing, and the "twist" - rather than rendering the film pointless, as some have claimed - allowed it to rise somewhat above the standard revenge flick. As a cautionary tale about the desire for vengeance, it wasn't bad IMO.
On the other hand, there's been plentiful discussion here of the movie's flaws, some of which is absolutely justified. And it pales in comparison, on multiple levels, to the French film "7 Days" which is thematically similar (other than the guy being actually guilty in this case) but makes "The Tortured" seem like a Pixar film by comparison. I'd like to recommend it, except I'm not sure how many viewers will be able to stomach it.
