It's the old men who decide to go to war with each other, and they send young men to do the fighting for them.

Yes it is. Under all the complexities and reasons and politics that lead to warfare, wars are still older men throwing away the lives of the younger men who are their soldiers. And the lives of innocent civilians.

That's what war IS, not the cause that is supposedly being fought over. It's the powerful dispensing with the powerless.

It was a pointless war and a tragic loss of life for all concerned. However, WWI was wildly popular and it required support from soldiers and civilians from all walks of life: young and old, male and female, rich and poor... the list goes on.
