Why was the watch so important?

It had a Shield logo on the back and Mrs. Hawkeye (Linda Cardellini) was happy to get it - implying it was once hers(?) - but the baddies wanted it too. Did I miss or forget something that explains it's importance?

Preserving her secret identity. She is Bobbi Morse/Barton. She is Mockingbird.

A cool nod. They were married in the comics in his limited series long ago.
