why exactly should it have been nominated for an Emmy?..

I saw this criticism of this year's Emmys on Wikipedia, and it's very sad and frankly bewildering to read, but I don't understand: why was Mindy Kaling so certain the show deserved to be nominated?? I mean, it was an entertaining show, but did it have profound writing or something? Exceptional acting?..

That's just such an entitled and presumptuous attitude! 🙄 And it makes me scared for the direction we are moving in as a society.

This Netflix show is ok, it's "cute", but to be honest I would expect something superior from Mindy Kaling, because she is talented.
Devi is a very narcissistic character and is sometimes difficult to take her side. It's part of the charm I guess, but there is nothing that makes this show stand out from other Netflix shows, both in style and in content.

Anyway the Emmies are always very oblivious to some shows and take an attraction to other shows. There are shows in smaller channels that have huge followings and never get a single nomination, while mediocre crap gets it because it's on the famous channels.
