My thoughts so far (no spoilers)

I watched the first two episodes and am really enjoying it so far. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan does a great job as a cute, somewhat awkward Indian teen who wants to be cool and have sex, while recovering from a recent family tragedy. The show is genuinely funny and I laughed out loud multiple times during the first two episodes. It is a smart, interesting show and I like the characters and want to see what happens next. I plan to continue watching. If you like smart, funny teen comedies, then I recommend checking this out. All 10 episodes of season 1 are currently streaming on Netflix.

I just finished season 1of Never Have I Ever (on Netflix). I watched all 10 episodes in one day. It was fantastic! A very satisfying first season and I really hope it gets renewed for at least a second season. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is terrific and believable as Indian teen Devi who is dealing with growing up, grief, friendship, boys and a difficult relationship with her traditional mother (an excellent Poorna Jagannathan). I found her journey to be compelling and entertaining. Devi can be horny and boy crazy at times, but also scared at nervous. She can be sweet but also has a temper and can be moody. She makes mistakes, but we can root for her and always like her. The show is really funny, but also sweet and heartfelt. Highly recommended. My rating for season 1 is a 9/10.

Really good, emotional ending & didn’t leave you hanging for possible 2nd season(like so many other Netflix shows do). Not sure if mainstream American audiences care about Indian culture(a little too much overdose of it in this series)

I’m 3 eps in and loving it. I love books and films with Indian culture; I don’t think there’s too much in this series, but I do think viewers with little to no experience with Indian culture will miss some of the jokes. (e.g. how long Bollywood movies are.)

It was a good and emotional drama in spite of the pop culture references and cliches throughout. The acting was superb. I would recommend it.
