Just had to inject pointless wokeness into it?
The lead character is a black man in the 1890s who graduated from Cambridge medical school? Really?
Cambridge didn’t admit Black students to its medical school until around twenty years later so what was the point of that except to check some DEI box?
And, of course, since the lead character is Black, we had to listen to him whine about racism. We get it. Blacks had it tough a hundreds of years ago. So did a lot of other people. Give it a rest. 🙄
Overlord (2018) pulled the same nonsense having a Black paratrooper overseas during WW2 when that never happened. Even more ridiculous, they had a black man leading white paratroopers.
And before someone whines about it being “a fantasy so what is the big deal?,” movies like this need to still be grounded in reality to work. Rewriting history to push DEI weakens an otherwise good film.
And it’s getting boring.
