I grew up in northern Alabama and pronounce the city's name MoBEEL. Voice-overs in "The War" consistently pronounce it MObeel.

Southerners put the accent on the second syllable. The original Native American settlement was called MaBIla. When the French were there in the 1700's, they called it MoBILE.
