It's the girls who made everything spiral out of control!!

Josh killed Lisa by accident. It was a stupid, idiotic thing to do, but an accident none-the-less. Then the boys come up with a plan which would have ensured that they all got away with it, and at first they aren't trying to be hostile to the girls (apart from Bluey, but it's clear that there's something mentally wrong with him). But then the girls go bananas, stabbing one boy, penetrating another with a flare and killing another one with an engine, when (lets face it) the boys aren't REALLY posing much of a threat to them. What stupid idiots.

Reading your post, I came to the conclusion that either

A.- you're trolling/bluffing joking -very distastefully so, or

B.- you´re a misogynistic individual, or

C.- you spent the movie slept as Yogi bear during winter and just read the plot somewhere.

Only one of these three options can explain a post like this one.

reply

I'm not trolling, and I actually enjoyed the film. I'm just saying it how I saw it. No more people need to have died, if it wasn't for those idiotic girls just making it worse for themselves.

reply

While their actions are certainly stupid and not well thought out, they seem perfectly understandable to me.

You've gotta think, these girls have just lost one of their best friends. They are on a boat out at sea, with a bunch of blokes they don't even know, who've just fed them drugs and had sex with them. It is natural that the girls would see the boys as the enemy. And the last thing they would do is dispose of their friend's body to prevent the incarceration of a bunch of strangers.

If you were put in the same situation, you probably wouldn't think rationally either. A lot of people bag this movie for being "predictable", but I have another word for the plot: "believable". And that's why I personally like it so much.

reply

"they all got away with it"? You mean the accidental homicide, I assume? It's OK, because it's an accident, then? And no one should have to face up to an accidental homicide, let's keep the police out of it.

OK, your point that the boy's plan would work is right on, but your idea that anyone who objected to it is "an idiot" is offensive. Getting away with a crime does not make the consequences disappear. Morality is not driven or changed by convenience.

reply

I agree with the OP. While there were morally questionable actions by the boys, it is the girls who committed most of the violence and murder in this film.

Every time the boys would try to calm the situation down or lock them in a room and try to get things under control, the girls would grab a weapon, stab someone, attack someone, kill someone etc. The 2 girls caused almost all of the deaths in this story.

The girl at the end didn't deserve to survive - she should have given Josh the tape, but she insisted on keeping it, and then killing him. She supposedly cared about his brother, so why would she want Josh to suffer? As Josh says, what he did was an accident. Why did she insist on wanting to make him pay for it? Josh is the one who deserved to survive at the end, and I hope since we didn't actually see him die that he survives and comes back.

reply

"Why did she insist on wanting to make him pay for it?"

I know, crazy right? If a guy kills your friend punching her in the back of the neck while having sex with her, you should just accept that it was an accident and let him and his friends take you out to sea against your will and throw her and the evidence overboard. Of course! God those girls were stupid. And mean.

"Josh is the one who deserved to survive at the end, and I hope since we didn't actually see him die that he survives and comes back."

Yep, Josh, the one who was willing to torture and kill his friend Bluey trying to cover up his own crime. Great guy that one, hero of the movie!

PS Ryan, get help, therapy, something.

Stupid girls, got everyone killed. The men could have killed them. As a matter of fact, i thought that they would. But they never did. so what we have here, is an accidental murder of a woman by a man, and three purposeful murders of men by women. Guess which is defended?

reply

True, I agree - that's why I said something similar above. I'm not sexist or misogynist, and the guys weren't exactly angels, but it is the women who commit the greatest acts of violence in this film.

Every time the guys try to calm them down and get them under control, the women go and grab a weapon and kill someone, or attempt to drive the boat away while a guy is in the water etc. They had no regard for the life or safety of any of the guys.

reply

"I'm not sexist or misogynist"

Yes, yes you are.

ryan:
Uh, did you even watch the same movie everyone else did? As soon as the girl was accidently killed ( to be honest, I thought that scene was ridiculous and stupid as hell----there's no way that would have killed anybody---this is where the movie got stupid as hell to me) the big dude threatened to put the sex tape online if the girls said anything about what happened, and he and his friends were basically holding them hostage. So,no, the girls didn't start anything, it was the guys' fault---the girls (young women, actually) were understandably scared as hell after realizing they were basically trapped on board this ship with a bunch of strange guys they barely knew, and who might do God knows what else to them, since they were on a boat practically out in the middle of nowhere. You make it sound like the women just went crazy on everybody---that's not even what happened. In real life, trust me, any woman would have been scared as hell in that situation---being a woman, I know that for a fact.

"Josh killed Lisa by accident. It was a stupid, idiotic thing to do, but an accident none-the-less."

How about brutal, vulgar, degrading and disrespectful??? Despite the aftermath of his actions, his approach should never be classified in a way that would dismiss the obvious fact that this is a heinous act and should not be categorized as a simple blunder. There almost always seems to be that certain dumb *beep* whom is in almost every group, mainly because the other people who belong in that group have their fingers far from the pulse of reasonable judgement and common sense. Their ignorance is fueled by their constant dependence for getting hammered in order to truly have fun and their phony personalities adds to the drunken conversations filled with topics that lack substance and credibility. They make room for over embellishing stories about their empty lives to help inspire that one impressionable douche bag who feels that he will be doing something groundbreaking if he attempts one or as many of the larger than life experiences he was dumb enough to believe.

"Josh killed Lisa by accident." He didn't just accidentally bump her overboard, he punched her in the back of the neck hard enough to break it -it's called manslaughter.

"Then the boys come up with a plan which would have ensured that they all got away with it" They "all" didn't have to get away with anything, Josh was the only one who was going to be up for anything serious - manslaughter. Things started spiralling when the boys decide they need to COVER UP WHAT HAPPENED and kidnap the girls by taking them out to sea against their wishes.

"But then the girls go bananas" The girls go "bananas" when they boys throw their friend's body overboard like a piece of garbage to cover up her killing and violently stop the girls form preventing this - how convenient of you to leave that out.

"stabbing one boy" after he threatened to hold the girls hostage on the boat and rape them

"penetrating another with a flare" um, he was holding a rifle to her head

"killing another one with an engine" when he was holding a rifle and standing over her friend - and by this stage is in serious survival mode

So even though it was a guy who initiated the chaos by KILLING someone when they were all having a good time, and then the guys who insist on heading out to sea to throw the body overboard against the girls wishes INSTEAD OF JUST CALLING THE COAST GUARD, it was the girls who made everything spiral out of control.

Conclusion: acefilm1 = Irredeemable misogynist.

^ This. Nice. Thank you. I’m a man, and I want to add that the vast majority of human males are too stupid to realize what a fucking blunder it is to piss women off. They learn this lesson the hard way, like the dim bulbs in this flick.

The punching wasn't, the killing was. I got the impression that the guy was pretty new in all of this and absolutely had no idea that it could kill her (yes, it sounds logical. But as humanity has proven countless of times: some people are just completely stupid). He viewed it as something that many before him had done during sex and that it wouldn't 'hurt'.

Though the girls going bananas was understandable, it was what started things to get out of control. And despite what you all may say... falling overboard would be a nicer description to family and friends than broke her neck while having sex with a complete stranger while being on drugs. Whoever said that sure made a good point. I know, who thinks logically when your friend was killed, it's probably realistic.

More insipid male externalization.

I think she's the saddest girl ever to hold a martini.

If a woman sat on a guys face and he died of asphyxiation I don't think people would be as judgemental of her. I think the donkey punch was an accident, afterwards boys and girls acted very viciously.

"If a woman sat on a guys face and he died of asphyxiation I don't think people would be as judgemental of her."

And do you think there is a logical REASON for WHY people may think this way (we are talking civilized people, not ignorant, stupid and selfish ones) or do you think their reactions are overblown and hold no logic?

reply

Because otherwise, why ARE internet discussions around such issues CONSTANTLY filled with users expressing emphatically their conflicting emotions, but also very common opinions and authoritarian stances, on such issues, and others sometimes highlight double standards and questions "Ah, but what if genders were reversed" and either put a full stop or refuse to explore it all in depth whilst others tend to confront in the name of justice mostly with the "You should be ashamed of yourselves" types of remarks?

It also seems that some people have in some or other ways genuine inabilities to accept the truth but they pass it off as if to say something along the lines of - the traditionally oriented civilized people are either hypocritical or miss the point, and goes and evil as well as right and wrong are not merely simple matters in humanity like others MAY think.

In the end, who IS right here and do we have to prove it?

reply

I think the turning point was when, at the dining table, Bluey made it clear he/they were about to rape the girls. Tammi was just defending herself and Kim. If Bluey hadn't threatened them that way, he probably wouldn't have been stabbed and maybe everyone, except Lisa, would've lived....MAYBE.
